From the Nilgiris, since 1993
Only Ooty began in 1993, in the hills between Ooty and Kotagiri. We started with a family shop for neighbours, estate families and the travellers who came up the road.

Ooty is where our bakes come from. Varkey has been part of tea-time here for generations: thin layers of dough, folded by hand and baked slowly until they turn crisp and golden. Ours comes out of the oven in [location or bakery name], along with the salt and sweet biscuits that locals buy by the bagful.
Kotagiri is where our tea comes from. The slopes here sit high in the Nilgiris, where cool air and mist give the leaf its bright, fragrant character.
What we make
- Fresh Ooty bakes. Classic, crispy, mini and special varkey, plus salt and sweet biscuits, baked in small batches and packed soon after.
- Nilgiri estate tea. Gold Dust, Silver Dust and Estate Select, for a strong, flavourful cup every morning.
- Homemade chocolate. Milk, dark and white chocolate with roasted almonds, cashews, pistachios, and fruit and nut, made the way Ooty's chocolate makers have always made it.
Our promise
